Terem Moffi Inspires Nice to Upset PSG with Two Goals.

In a thrilling Ligue 1 match on Friday, the talented forward Terem Moffi showcased his skills, scoring two goals and providing an assist to lead his team to a 3-2 victory against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This defeat marked PSG’s first loss of the season, dashing their hopes of temporarily topping the league standings with eight points. Instead, they now find themselves in third place.

Nice, with their unbeaten streak intact for the 2023-24 campaign, secured a crucial victory that places them one point behind the second-placed team and two points behind AS Monaco, who are the league leaders and are set to face Lorient on Sunday.

Coach Luis Enrique acknowledged the challenges posed by Nice, describing them as a formidable team with an attractive game plan. He noted their physical superiority and effectiveness in counterattack situations.

In the early stages of the game, PSG seemed to be in control. Ousmane Dembélé’s attempt towards the top corner was thwarted by Nice’s goalkeeper, Marcin Bulka, shortly after Kylian Mbappé was denied inside the box. However, the tide turned when Terem Moffi scored for Nice in the 21st minute, finding the net low inside the near post.

PSG quickly responded, with Mbappé equalizing just before the half-hour mark by smashing the ball into the net from the edge of the box. The Parisians had opportunities to take the lead before halftime, but Mbappé was unable to convert a pass from Dembélé into a goal.

After the break, Gaëtan Laborde restored the lead for Nice with a close-range goal, capitalizing on a well-controlled ball and a precise pass from Moffi. Gianluigi Donnarumma prevented PSG from conceding a third goal when he saved a shot from Sofiane Diop at close range. However, Moffi cleverly deceived the PSG defense to extend Nice’s lead to 3-1 with a low shot in the 68th minute.

Mbappé reignited PSG’s hopes with a late goal, scoring his second of the match three minutes from time as the ball bounced off the ground and found the far post. In stoppage time, PSG desperately pressed into Nice’s box but lacked the time and precision needed to salvage a draw.

Notably, PSG had gone undefeated in their previous 13 home matches against Nice in all competitions.

Nice now stands among the four teams in the top-flight that remain unbeaten this season, alongside Rennes, Marseille, and league leaders Monaco.
